WORKSHOP 11:45–12:30

Presenting under pressure: from stress to performance

Wouter Stoltz · Team Rockstars IT · Talent Manager & Trainer

Deadlines, incidents, complex systems and constant context switching. For many developers, working under pressure is a daily reality. At the same time, we live in a world where our attention is continuously taxed by information, notifications and expectations. In one word: stimulus overload. The question is therefore not how we avoid pressure, but how we deal with it effectively and sustainably.

In this interactive workshop, we explore what happens when stress and stimuli build up and how you can continue to perform precisely in those moments.

Talent Manager and former elite athlete Wouter Stoltz shares his personal story of performing at the highest level, dealing with setbacks and reinventing himself after a serious injury ended his sporting career. The lessons from elite sport turn out to be surprisingly applicable to the daily reality of software development: staying focused under pressure, recovering after exertion and dealing effectively with stress.

We also look at the science behind stress, attention and performance. What happens in your brain when pressure rises? Why can thinking become harder precisely when you need to be sharp? And how does an overload of stimuli affect our concentration, energy and decision-making?

Inspired by insights from neuroscience and the growing focus on reducing stimuli and recovery, participants discover why sustainable performance is not only about working harder, but also about managing attention and energy more intelligently.

The workshop combines personal stories, scientific insights and techniques that can be applied immediately. Participants learn to recognise their own stress signals, gain practical tools to regain focus during peak moments and develop a personal plan for situations in which pressure is high.

Not a session about reducing workload. A session about a much more relevant question: how do you make sure pressure, complexity and stimuli work for you rather than against you?

The urgency of sovereignty and portability for your data platform

Ruud Cools & Olav van Rabenswaaij

What happens to your data platform if a foreign government demands access to your storage? What impact does your hyperscaler's volatile pricing strategy have on your quarterly budget? What happens to your enterprise architecture if a critical vendor technology is no longer supported? What are the legal and GDPR risks once your data passes through third parties or foreign subprocessors? In this session, we explore the urgency of sovereignty and portability for your data platform. Based on the needs and requirements within your organisation, we outline the technical consequences. After all, being completely sovereign and portable also has disadvantages…

Using the Data Platform Navigator, a framework developed by Team Rockstars IT, we show architects, engineers and programme managers how to find the right balance between cloud convenience and absolute control over your own data, step by step.

What will you take away from this session? Clear questions and a practical framework for determining where your balance lies between cloud convenience and sovereignty.

TALK 11:45–12:30

Different brains, one high-performing team.

Koen Sterken & Marc Heusdens

High performance does not come from making everyone work in the same way. It comes from understanding how different people think, communicate, focus, make decisions and deal with pressure. In a neurodiverse organisation, this is even more important. The challenge is not to erase those differences, but to turn them into a strength.

In this session, we look at how to build a high-performing team in which different brains can bring out the best in one another. Based on practical experience with teams in complex environments, we share what helps—and what works against you—when people have different needs around structure, communication, autonomy, focus, feedback and energy.

We cover psychological safety, clear expectations, working agreements, decision-making, a sustainable pace, conflict, ownership and trust. The goal is not to create a perfect team in which everyone works in the same way. The goal is a team in which people understand one another better, use each other's strengths and deliver meaningful results without burning out.

AI 11:45–12:30

AI & impact on engineering

Wietse Hage · Technology philosopher

In this interactive breakout, technology philosopher and AI commentator Wietse Hage explores how AI systems are developing and the opportunities and challenges this creates for the future of work. He covers the most important developments, limitations and trade-offs, as well as the impact this technology has on how we build and use software. As co-host of the AI Report podcast and newsletter (with Alexander Klöpping), Wietse follows developments closely and translates them into clear insights.

After a short introduction by Wietse, this session becomes an open conversation with engineers. Based on questions from the group, we explore the possibilities and limitations of AI in practice: where are the boundaries of current models, how much control do you still have as an engineer, and how do you deal with uncertainty, bias and emergent behaviour?

We also examine the impact on the profession. As more code is generated, at least in part, by AI, the engineer's role increasingly shifts from builder to orchestrator. How do you direct AI systems effectively, safeguard quality and make considered technical and ethical decisions? What does this shift mean for knowledge work, and how do we prepare for a future in which working with AI becomes a natural part of the job?

An in-depth session for engineers who want to understand how their role is changing in an era in which AI is taking an increasingly prominent place in software development and knowledge work.

Agent Boss: from AI tools to real business transformation

Joris Haverkort · CTO · Microsoft Netherlands

AI is rapidly becoming the new language of digital transformation. But the real question is no longer whether organisations should do something with AI; the question is how to deploy AI at scale and connect it to measurable business value.

In this session, I take participants from individual AI tools to thinking like an Agent Boss: someone who not only uses AI agents, but directs, organises and connects them to real business outcomes.

We will cover, among other things:

  • why AI is about more than productivity or automation;
  • how to move from experiments to AI at scale;
  • how to connect AI to strategic value, customer impact and new ways of working;
  • what this means for leadership, teams and the role of technology professionals.

Our Artificial Future

Joris Krijger · Technology philosopher en AI-ethicus

It is becoming increasingly clear that AI is the defining technological revolution of this century.

QUALITY ENGINEERING 13:45–14:30

Building faster, trusting less: Quality Engineering in the AI era

Jasper Loos · Principal Consultant · Team Rockstars IT

SECURITY 13:45–14:30

“Probably a false positive…”

Benjamin Abbenhues · Senior Cyber Defense Specialist · Team Rockstars Security

Welcome to the SOC.

From strategy to Network Automation

Oscar van der Leij & Aidan Langelaan · Team Rockstars IT

Hoe VodafoneZiggo een complexe netwerktransformatie schaalbaar maakt

How do you translate a strategic ambition into automation that actually works in the network?

Voice UI’s, AI, and the future of usability (EN)

Ramona Domen · Front-End Developer · Team Rockstars IT

This talk will be in English, limited space (10p)

When interacting with technology, most of it is done via a visual medium, yet for us humans, speech is the more native form of communication. With the AI evolution picking up speed, should we abandon our “old” ways of developing and look into designing applications and the way we interact with them from scratch?

What would a world look like when every user has their own UI customized to their needs and preferences, and what would that mean for our work? Will we still have frontend developers? How will it change the way we create API’s and handle information provision when the UX and UI are always different?

Join me in this interactive thought experiment and discover what our work might look like in the future, now that we have AI not only as a coding companion, but also as a user interface.

Agentic Purpleteaming (EN)

Christoph Martens · Security Engineer · Team Rockstars Security

This talk will be held in English. Limited space (10p)

This talk introduces an agentic purple-teaming environment: a multi-agent IDE designed for secure, reproducible offensive security research. The platform combines coordinated AI agents with strong sandboxing, execution isolation, and deterministic replay to enable safe experimentation, collaborative pentesting workflows, and auditable attack simulation.

The session explores how agentic systems change security tooling, how reproducibility and containment become critical when autonomous agents interact with targets and tools, and what this means for the future of AI-assisted cybersecurity. Attendees will see practical lessons and potential pitfalls from building an environment where AI agents can coordinate reconnaissance, exploitation, analysis, and reporting while remaining observable, constrained, and safe to evaluate.

Not sovereign, but less dependent (EN)

Antoine Tielbeke · Team Rockstars Cloud

This talk will be in English

The moment your organization wants to become less dependent on American tech, the bar suddenly looks impossibly high. GitHub, Cloudflare, npm, your base images: there is always another thread running to the US. And because we can't do it perfectly, we end up doing nothing. That is the Purity Trap.

Antoine lowers that bar. No large organization is switching over completely any time soon, and it doesn't have to. Not every team can move to a European cloud today, but every team can become less dependent today.

With lessons from his own work, from the Dutch national COVID platform to Volt Europa and Enexis, he shows how to take those first steps without blowing up your roadmap. The approach in outline: know your crown jewels, close the tap, and keep the lights on. You'll walk out with a concrete list you can start on tomorrow. And with the realization that "not perfect" still counts.

AI · ENGINEERING 14:45–15:30

The Agentic Engineer: Making Implicit Engineering Explicit

Roel van Bergen · Front-End Developer · Team Rockstars IT

Intentie leeft in gesprekken. Regels zitten in hoofden. Validatie zit in gewoontes.

  • Prompt Engineering maakt intentie expliciet.
  • Context Engineering maakt kennis expliciet.
  • Harness Engineering maakt uitvoering expliciet.

ROCKSTARS VALLEY 2026

THE CONFERENCE

TECH CONFERENCE.

On Tuesday, October 6, 2026, the fourth edition of Rockstars Valley will bring together more than 600 engineers, clients and CIOs at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

A day centred around Engineering Under Pressure, with keynotes, technical breakout sessions and conversations about the decisions engineers and organisations need to make under pressure.

THE AWARDS

THE ROCKSTARS AWARDS.

During Rockstars Valley 2026, we will once again present The Rockstars Awards.

A celebration of courage, impact, culture and the stories that make a difference in tech.

ENTRIES CLOSED

Four elements shape the day: thought-provoking keynotes, technical deep dives, conversations with the community and The Rockstars Awards.

  1. KEYNOTES

  3. COMMUNITY

Meet like-minded people from the IT industry who understand your challenges and build valuable connections during the networking drinks.

  4. ROCKSTARS AWARDS

The Rockstars Awards, where we celebrate courage, impact and culture.

TOPICS

WHERE IT GETS REAL.

At Valley, we focus on four themes where engineering under pressure becomes tangible. From the impact of AI and digital dependency to security and the human side of technical performance.

AI IMPACT

AI is changing how engineers design, build, test and evaluate software. As a result, responsibility for quality, control and technical decisions is shifting too.

CLOUD SOVEREIGNTY

How much control do you retain over your platform, data and infrastructure? We look at dependency, portability and the technical decisions behind digital sovereignty.

SECURITY

When systems come under pressure, technical analysis, communication and responsibility need to come together. That is when a team's resilience becomes truly visible.

PEOPLE FIRST

Technology is ultimately built by people. Focus, recovery, collaboration and decision-making all shape how teams continue to perform when the pressure increases.
