Rockstar Interview
IT Rockstar Mark worked at the Land Registry on a project aimed at making REST API available for providing files to transform into linked-data. In addition, the focus is on making the platform stable and upgrading the quality within the GRID-ETL project.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS PROJECT?
Because they started working with linked data at the Land Registry, they have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge about it. I was eager to learn a lot about exactly what this entailed and how I could contribute to it.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF WITHIN THIS PROJECT?
The total downtime during our project after the first deployment is less than 2 hours total. The quality standards we adhered to made this possible.
What techniques tooling did you use?
During the project, we created an API based on swagger/OpenAPI. This API is implemented underwater with several jump components. In particular, Spring-boat and Spring-batch. We also set up an entire jenkins pipeline to have all the software built and deployed automatically.
WHAT DID THE PROJECT DELIVER TO THE TARGET AUDIENCE/USER?
It is mainly for internal use. We have made sure that we can process daily mutations on large data sets.
WHAT DID YOU LEARN IN THE PROJECT?
I learned to work with linked-data. I also gained a lot of knowledge about how to properly test software with libraries such as mockito.
WHAT MADE TEAM ROCKSTARS IT-WORTHY?
The broad knowledge and passionate colleagues present at the Cadastre makes it IT Rockstars-worthy. They are goal-oriented and think out-of-the-box. There is also tremendously good coffee.
“I learned to work with linked-data,” he said.
