Rockstar Interview
For Tele2, IT Rockstar Ruben is creating microservices that sit between backend systems and front-end systems. The purpose of microservices is to make all data available a lot faster and to make systems a lot more stable. Ruben first started with a proof of concept and with that he moved on to other services.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS PROJECT?
I wanted to learn more about microservices. Since there are also some people working at Tele2 who have more experience with it, I thought it would be a good project.
What techniques tooling did you use?
Java 8, Spring (boot), IntelliJ, Junit, Jira, Jenkins, Docker, Git, Hystrix, Hazelcast
WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF WITHIN THIS PROJECT?
We set up a whole new project and it will be very noticeable to the user that we worked on it.
WHAT DID THE PROJECT DELIVER TO THE TARGET AUDIENCE/USER?
The project is not yet in production, so it has not yet achieved anything. But the services will be a lot faster than existing ones, and users will benefit from this.
WHAT DID YOU LEARN IN THE PROJECT?
In this project I learned some things about microservices, performance testing, security testing and new techniques that I can use in other projects.
WHAT MADE TEAM ROCKSTARS IT-WORTHY?
This project is of great importance to the company. With the current services, the system is not stable enough, which will have to improve with this project. All of Tele2’s applications will eventually use this.
What does our rockstar say on this project?
The new services will be a lot faster than the existing ones!
