“Despite being a lot of work, the migration went smoothly in the end.”

Ruben Hemmes, JAVA Engineer at Team Rockstars IT

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS PROJECT?

What appealed to me most is that the developers have a lot of variety in their work. I do a lot of work in the backend, frontend and am also working on the infrastructure that the application runs on.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF WITHIN THIS PROJECT?

I have been working to get the application running on a new infrastructure. Although it was a lot of work, in the end the migration went smoothly and did not affect users much. Because of this migration, Select now runs more stably and we can make a number of processes easier.

What techniques tooling did you use?

For this project, the main tooling and techniques are: Spring (Boot), AngularJS/Angular, elasticsearch and AWS.

WHAT DID THE PROJECT DELIVER TO THE TARGET AUDIENCE/USER?

Migrating to the new infrastructure, creating microservices and also rewriting parts of code has improved stability.

WHAT DID YOU LEARN IN THE PROJECT?

I learned a lot about creating efficiency and neat code. I also learned more again about the tools AWS has to offer.

WHAT MADE TEAM ROCKSTARS IT-WORTHY?

You have a lot of say in how everything is made, a lot is possible here. Trying a new technique or tool is no problem either. In addition, because of the variety in this project, you will be working with many different tools and techniques.
