As a market leader in communication services for primary care and a fast-growing player in secondary care, Vcare has been providing essential solutions for over 30 years. With integrations into virtually all General Practitioner Information Systems (HIS), Vcare supports healthcare providers in providing more efficient and accessible care. The ambition? To integrate AI tools to keep healthcare affordable and to conquer both the Nursing, Care and Home Assistance (VVT) and hospital markets. That requires scaling up and flexibility. Self-evident? Not, when lives are at stake.

FROM PROVEN RELIABILITY TO DIGITAL INNOVATION
The existing architecture, although proven reliable, could not sufficiently keep up with the demands of a rapidly changing market. Healthcare providers are increasingly collaborating on a regional level, which requires flexibility, scalability and data exchange in a standardized and secure way. Rick Everink, CTO of Vcare, emphasizes the importance: “Healthcare is under enormous pressure. We can make the difference for healthcare providers by offering smart, digital solutions. And for that we need a system that is built for the future.”
The challenge? Development was not moving fast enough. The existing team did not have the capacity to deliver the new architecture in time. Waiting was not an option. The market is too dynamic and the need too great to spend years on a slow migration. At the same time, the current reliability of their service remained a core requirement for Vcare. So the question was simple and challenging at the same time: How do we develop faster, without compromising on quality?

Vcare found the answer in Team Rockstars: a partner that added both speed and knowledge. No delays due to organic growth, but immediately ahead with the right people and the right expertise. The cooperation was certainly not self-evident. Rick: “To experience their added value, we first asked Team Rockstars to review the new design of our architecture. ‘Shoot for it!” was the idea. The new Vcare ecosystem is built on an API-based architecture. This choice makes the platform flexible and scalable, allowing it to grow with customer needs. In addition, most of the management of the infrastructure has been moved to code, ensuring better maintainability. Crucially, GP practices within the new ecosystem can exchange data securely and in a standardized manner. This makes regional collaboration easier and more efficient, which is essential in times of staff shortages and high workloads.

The collaboration with Team Rockstars concretely moved Vcare forward – and in less time than anticipated. The lead time for the new architecture has been reduced by at least 6 to 12 months, putting Vcare one step ahead of the competition. Proof of Concepts are now delivered 25% faster, leading to faster innovation and higher customer satisfaction. The platform is running more stably than ever, with 99.9% uptime and a clear path to 99.99% availability.
