Logiqs has become known for the most advanced Vertical Farming systems in the world. They have been building automatic rolling table systems for horticultural greenhouses and automatic pallet storage systems for warehouses for more than 45 years.
Everything from design, to software design, to testing is done in their own factory. Innovation is paramount, they are constantly trying new things and like to come up with intelligent solutions for all the logistics automation problems their customers encounter.
In the greenhouses, Logiqs has provided robotic plant care. They can also apply their acquired knowledge to warehouses, where so-called carriers move pallets from place A to B on command.
Next step? Automate the entire order processing process. You enter an order and the system links all the information together and gets it delivered to the end customer.
“CONTROLLING ROBOTS GIVES A MAGICAL FEELING. IT’S ALSO EXTRA COMPLEX, YOU’RE DEALING WITH PHYSICAL INFLUENCES INSTEAD OF JUST DATA. IT’S NOT A BUSINESS PROCESS THAT YOU KICK OFF BUT REAL HARDWARE GOES INTO MOTION. THAT’S DIFFERENT THINKING.” Vincent Bitter – IT Rockstar on the project team at Logiqs
To automate all order processing, two systems must be linked together. The Warehouse Management System (WMS), an EPS, knows what products are in the warehouse. Logiqs’ system moves the pallets.
Now the system should also learn which pallet a specific product is on, so you don’t have to keep track of this yourself.
“BEFORE THIS I WAS WORKING ON ADMINISTRATIVE SOFTWARE, TO CALL IT THAT. THEN YOU DON’T SEE SOMETHING MOVING AND NOW YOU SUDDENLY SEE SOMETHING REALLY HAPPENING. FURTHERMORE, WE WORK WITH THE LATEST TECHNIQUES, YOU LEARN A LOT FROM THAT AS A TEAM.” Melvin Ducaneaux – IT Rockstar on the project team at Logiqs
The user can work in the WMS and create an order. The system figures out which pallet it is and where the pallet is located. It is then automatically driven out so that the product can be transported.
