Technology with Impact: Striive – The Heart of the Organization
Striive, the beating heart of HeadFirst Group, is the platform for temporary work solutions in the Benelux. This is where it happens. Together with 450 internal employees who, thanks to Striive, can focus on what really counts: personal contact with professionals and clients at the right
moments. The platform does the rest – from smart matching to contract management. For HeadFirst customers, it’s simple: Striive makes the difference. But how do you make sure this complex platform keeps innovating and growing? Exactly, the Engineering Team with the best tech talent takes care of that, and that’s also where Team Rockstars comes in.

Recruitment: a Needle in a Haystack
You would expect that HeadFirst Group’s biggest challenge would be technological innovation. And that’s partly true. But when Frederik Walraven, Head of Engineering for Striive, talks about the challenges of his job, technology is only part of the story. The real challenge? Finding the right people who can make the vision a reality. And not just any people: the perfect match of technical expertise as well as soft skills. That’s a recurring challenge. “In our team, everyone is equal,” Frederik explains. “We all work together to improve and further develop our platform. But finding people who, in addition to technical skills, also fit seamlessly into our team, that’s the hardest part.” It is here where the story of Team Rockstars really begins.
The challenge Frederick describes is fundamentally human. In an increasingly automated world, understanding the human factor remains a crucial skill. “This saves me about 10 hours per candidate. In an average recruitment round, that equates to a full work week, which I can spend elsewhere.”
From Select to Striive: A Strategic Rebranding
One of the biggest challenges Rockstars, along with the HeadFirst team, tackled was the rebranding of the Select platform to Striive. A complex job that involved building the front-end of the application from the ground up. It not only had to be responsive, but also user-friendly for different stakeholders: professionals, clients, partners and HeadFirst’s own employees. Instead of the custom-built User Interface, Angular UI components from PrimeNG were chosen. This library of customizable UI components allows the development teams to launch new features much faster. According to Frederik, the Rockstars were a driving force behind this project.
AI-driven CV Check: Smarter Matching, More Impact
Team Rockstars was also involved in developing the “resume check” feature on the platform. AI ensures that professionals can find relevant assignments with a single click and receive suggestions to better match their resumes to the assignment. The result? More time for HeadFirst’s recruiters to coach where they can really make a difference. Tech enables Touch.
Document Builder: Smart Automation, Saving Time
Another result where Rockstars were significant is the development of the “Document Builder. A number of clients, such as the Dutch government, use proprietary resume templates. Manually transferring resume content to these templates was a time-consuming task. This process has been automated with the ‘Document Builder’. The result? A time savings of 1 minute per candidate. With over 20,000 placements per year, Frederick says that equates to 2 man-months.
Looking Ahead: Simplify & Optimize
The next step for HeadFirst Group is large-scale integration of their international platforms. As an example, Frederik mentions a central solution for identity and access management. With this, the company wants to facilitate that, for example, a Belgian freelancer has access to assignments in the Netherlands. This also allows clients access to a huge potential of talent that can work remotely, something that is increasingly needed. And as always, the success of this complex integration depends on collaboration. A collaboration where Team Rockstars perfectly matches the rhythm of the team and the pulse of the organization.
